Peter
began Providing Specialist Advice in 1996, working for a year with a
division of Afrox as an Industrial Development Consultant, specialising
in Industrial Automation. Following the successful completion of this
work, Peter was retained by Data Dynamics, a Legislative Publisher that
was in the process of developing Windows based Legal solutions for
Commerce and Industry.
Briefly
leaving consulting in 2000, Peter joined the First Rand Group in a
Senior Business Development position, where he remained for 2 years,
followed by a year at Electrowave (Pty) Ltd as Group Marketing Manager,
specializing in the market penetration of telemetry solutions, such as
‘Bluetooth’ and GSM based technologies .
In 2003, Sound Labour Practice was formed with Chris Haralambous. This was simultaneous with the formation of Gahan Consulting.
Sound
Labour Practice was a Business and Labour Law Training Company that was
very successful in bringing about the understanding of Disciplinary,
CCMA and Employment Equity processes in various companies. Our client
list was impressive, with Pick’n’Pay, Conlog, Mr Price, FNB & Mica
utilizing our services. During this time, Gahan Consulting became
extremely busy and Peter was forced to leave Sound Labour Practice to
Chris who still runs it under the trading name ‘Labourworx’.
During
2003, there was a clearly identified need in the market place for
strategists that were able to facilitate mutually beneficial
transformation in business in terms of the government’s requirement to
‘Readdress the imbalances of the past’.
With
the legislation and Code of Good Practice on Broad Based Black Economic
Empowerment being gazetted, many firms, both Multinational and Domestic
started the scramble for access to knowledge on how to facilitate this
process in a mutually beneficial way. It is in this transformation and
development process that Peter and Gahan Consulting have become firmly
entrenched in South African Commerce and Industry.
Over
the past 5 years, Peter has successfully worked with industries as
diverse as Taxi Associations, Land Claims, Multinational Pharmaceutical
and Chemical Companies, The Music Industry, The Packaging Industry, the
Fashion Industry, Hospitality and over 150 Small to medium enterprises.
During
2003, Peter was invited to lecture at the Durban University of
Technology. This arrangement was renewed annually until present. During
this process, Peter became associated with TENUSA, the Tertiary
Education National Union and has been nominated to represent them at
Council Level at the University.
Peter
is an outstanding strategist and has the ability to see potential in
any situation and then manifest it into reality. Business is measured by
balance sheets and Peter’s success is reflected by increases in profit
margins that have a mutually beneficial outcome for all parties
involved.
